Website localisation essentially covers two things:

• Translation into the local language (e.g. Guatemalan Spanish)
• Localising content (e.g.  lists of vendors,  maps of offices, newsfeeds)

The result of website localisation is a website that feels local. The translation is not only of much higher quality than what can be achieved with the help of machine translation but it will also feel local.  For businesses this results in higher sales and a wider customer base, which in turn is less sensitive to economic changes.
